No wonder couples are flying across the globe to tie the knot there. To learn more about getting hitched in Ibiza, we asked Ibiza wedding expert Alexandra Sixt, founder of Ma Cherie Ibiza Weddings, a wedding planning company that offers bespoke services for brides.

“Historically, the majority of our clients had been from Europe, mainly Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, France and Austria. However, we’ve seen a huge increase of enquiries and bookings from the United States lately,” Sixt said.

You’ve probably heard that Ibiza attracts a glamorous crowd. Massive yachts, private jets and of course, celebrities are all common sightings in Ibiza.

Many celebs have made it their second home. Meanwhile, the island has played host to everyone from Justin Beiber and Orlando Bloom to Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.

While this may impress some people, the stunning island offers so much more, especially for brides-and-grooms-to-be.

From super trendy venues, ultra luxurious resorts and spas, to beautiful coastal settings, Ibiza has it all.

“Ibiza embraces all walks of life, so anything goes on this hippy island, whether you want a white blessing on the shoreline, a technicolor ceremony in a private garden, a cliff top location, or a celebrity style celebration in a private villa, it really is up to you!” Sixt said.

For your big day, Ibiza has various extraordinary backdrops to choose from. You can get married in the midst of the trendy social scene near San Miguel and the super clubs, or opt for a tranquil island setting, far away from all the action.

The island’s “live, and let live” atmosphere has its roots in the hippy movement of the late 1960s. Las Dahlias, a hippy market near San Carlos on the east of the island, still exists today as evidence that a laid-back, “anything goes” attitude is still very much a part of Ibiza’s character. Every Saturday, live bands play psychedelic versions of Beatles numbers, while tents fill with fashionable shoppers scouring through silver pendants while sipping on fresh melon juice.

Meanwhile, Ibiza is jam-packed with top-rated resorts and spas, offering sublime luxury combined with the island’s innately distinct “cool vibe.” If you want luxury, you can enjoy it without the dreaded stuffy, snobby atmosphere.
